This typographical project involved creating a typeface and utilizing it in two distinct poster designs. I created "Calligraffiti," a combination of calligraphic techniques and strokes, and graffiti motifs. For my first poster, I recreated the original Beetlejuice movie poster. This poster features my drawing of the sandworm from the film.
The second poster is advertising a Fugazi show that took place in 1987 in Washington D.C. In this poster, I also utilized a drawing I did which was edited to fit the poster's design.
Above you can see the initial sketches I made when designing this typeface. There are some other ideas for my typeface as well as my hand drawn letters. I took inspiration from existing graffiti type and utilized calligraphic pen techniques to achieve the sharp and varied stroke weight. Below the initial sketch are the vector versions of my typeface based on my hand drawn letters and numbers.
