This project was done for an illustration course and was a project where we adapt the story of Little Red Riding Hood and create a series of five illustrations to tell our version of the story. The medium for this project was our choice, so in order to create something unique, I chose to wood burn my illustrations on birch wood slices. Red ink was used as an accent color as well.
My interpretation of the story was a quiet and chilling retelling that closely follows the original storyline. In my story, the Wolf is a very large, furry animal with creepy eyes and a smirk as he follows Little Red Riding Hood.
Below are my initial sketches for what my five frames would include. I wanted to create a lot of depth and extend the landscape to make the scenes isolated and quiet. I also wanted to include multiple perspectives including the Wolf's, Red's, and ours as spectators. These sketches were done on Procreate with a charcoal brush.
